ra ra, fight on.
This was an out-take from a photo shoot for Northeastern University. Mark and I are both alumni, so this was one for the old red 'n black. He was being showcased as a success to come out of the Multimedia program.
Shooting digital but with one of the all-time greats, the Nikon 105mm f2.5, at the helm. The lovely Jessica and Amie assisting. It was very dark (night time basically).
Mark is out on the west coast on vacation w/ his brother. Hopefully he's having fun living the life of riley.
Another shot from the same shoot:

Cleaning for access
If you climb outdoors you end up cleaning outdoors. It's all about access.
Checkout Access Fund
This past weekend was the annual Lincoln Woods / Access Fund cleanup. Dana supplied supplies - others lent their strong backs. Success was had. It was my first time and coming off a long night of revelry at the Miner's wedding it was not fun to rouse out of bed. So, I was a few minutes late (about 10... it was a Sunday...). We cleaned, we laughed, we showered when we got home (I know I did anyway... can't speak for the others).

The crew (plus more not pictured).

The museum of science Boston... quite a wedding location.
Got to go to a wedding as a guest at the museum of science this weekend. What a cool idea.
David Burnett commented in the world press photo masterclass a couple of years ago (the video is somewhere online) that in is too easy to forget to take the photos that matter - family, friends. Amie reminded me of this the other day. So, here's mon Amie.

Barbedwire climbing
So, I took part in the annual accessfund cleanup at the woods today. Met many people, mostly new faces to me. I'm not going to lie, carrying a tire out plus recovering from a ruckus wedding last night made me take a nap this afternoon. It was delightful.
Last week I got out and met some new faces and some old as well. I'm posting some of the photos I liked.

Nina was out today as well doing her cleaning thing. She probably regrets my tagging along with her after I was done my bit - I pointed out some really terrible looking underwear under the boulder she was on (the egg). I have a feeling it was simple peer pressure that caused her to use a stick to wrangle the terribleness into her garbage bag.
Anyway, last week she introduced me to barbedwire (the boulder). Looks tough, but made for interesting pics. I think she has bigger forearms than me.
This was pain. I forget why. But, it looked and sounded painful. I forget his name now, but the guy was doing real well with the climb though. His only comment was "oh so now you take the picture." 'Tis true, 'tis true.
This is Eric and (ryan? not sure) looking prepared. Though I think Eric looks prepared and the other guy looks like he is going to do some kung foo and kick the climber. Eric is the first Euro-tech climber I've met. Apparently that means he is a German speaking software engineer in his real life.
Last but not least, Dustin and Narissa. She had the setup to envy.
Aww... Ok, so I posed them. But they are cute and friendly. So, a cute and friendly squeeze for the camera was called for.
as always - don't snag the pics - ask if you want something. I may or may not be able to deliver, but we can talk about it. Thanks to all.
B Roll: I didn't get photos of Jeff I was super excited about. But, I feel sad leaving him out.
I wasn't sure what to make of Jeff. When climbing he had an animal in him, when not climbing he seemed very soft spoken.

she hid from me (pic 'o day)
I was trying to figure out what the cute cabin attendant was doing when it dawned on me she was hiding from the camera. I told her she was integral to the photo but she didn't seem to care. She didn't seem to be mind terribly much either, but I guess maybe I wouldn't want to have my photo taken after a long flight either.
This from my first trip on Southwest, the bus line of the sky. The people were extra friendly. The service very good. The pilot standing outside on the phone while the crew chitchatted reminded me tremendously of a regular old bus with the driver out having a smoke killing time. Good times - few weeks ago.

too much climbing? (pic o' day)
I'm working on a project with my bouldering photos, so my blog may be a bit climbing centric (Amie asked me to mix it up a bit today).
I love trains. When we were in college Amie and I travelled around Italy and into Austria (through the Alps) via train. It was a wonderful experience that will forever stay with me. I don't think I could have captured it in a camera (not then, maybe not now). Back home in Japan, trains take you everywhere. Every stop has a story and a community. Just get off at a random stop and wander around.
These were shot sequentially in July. Never did get these online. Another project unto itself.

long story (pic 'o day)
but for another day. Thus no post Friday night.
Despite the dire predictions for the weather this turned into quite a fine day for bouldering. Met a bunch of people in the woods, some old faces - some new.
These are from a week ago. I want to caption Nicole with something crafty but nothing jumps to mind. She kinda does it all just with her expression. I'm not sure if this is supposed to look cool. This is her rocking a pose for the camera. Add your own caption.
Brendan. out of focus, but all friendly lookin'. Both of them went to climb indoors today. Their loss.
