quiet afternoon climbing on a beautiful May Saturday.
*note - I have some photos from a couple of weeks ago I still need to post, they will be coming. As always please don't copy or distribute these images without asking.
May entered spitting rain this year. Saturday was gloomy and when I went out around noon no-one was to be found in the usual areas (except me and bunch of flies) so after some itchy scratchy walking, and some drops of rain, I turned tail and headed home. But, while I was avoiding doing more productive house chores by eating a hearty lunch I noticed the sun come shining in on me. So, I packed up and headed out again, (it was 2:30ish at this point). I only found one guy bouldering out there on his own.
It turns out Mike (I think his name is Mike... drop me a line, sorry to forget your name) is into planes (as I am) and he is a pilot (which I am not) as well as being a software guy. A transplant to RI, he wasn't familiar with Lincoln Woods' boulders so I pointed out the obvious ones and I walked around a bit more. When I got back he was in the warm-up cave area.
Shortly there after a man and women came along and said hello. I didn't actually pick up on the fact that they were mother and son until they introduced themselves. Sadly, my memory for names ended at one for the day (I want to say his name was Jason, but I think I'm making that up).
I think everyone was anticipating there being more people, myself included. It ended up being such a nice day that the 2 or 3 hours I was out in the woods just flew by. The flies were a bit annoying but nothing like they were when it was gray out (the first time I went out that day). I think I have a few bites, but nothing too bad. Next time I'll bring some bug spray.
