good weather bouldering begins anew

for me anyway...
The past couple of weekends have had very decent weather. I joined the droves of people who entered the Lincoln woods to take in the fine weather. The only things puncturing the beautiful silence of the park were the happy screams of children and the occasional ambulance rescuing somebody (overcome with clean air?).
This fine Sunday afternoon I took a couple of rolls of film and was surprised to find a dozen or more climbers out by the "practice area." I hadn't seen that many climbers out there before, but then I haven't gone there much in fine weather. Out and about, I endeavored to capture a slice of life in the woods.

I actually did the same thing the previous week, but I haven't had a chance to peruse those photos yet. The beauty of this schedule is that I can drop off the film on the way home and it's ready by noon on Monday. Not too shabby.
Perhaps the most unusual sight in the woods are the two baby carriages. The moms and dads are climbers.
I watched from afar as one of the moms did a gnarly top-out very gracefully (squint at the photo and you'll see her).
About the only thing I worry about while out in the woods is dropping something on someone below me. I watched as a little twig skittered away from my foot over the edge into the empty space below me. Nothing big, yet very problematic if there had been a pair of eyes looking up at me.
Thankfully, the only real damage I could have perpetrated would have been to myself as I tripped myself up walking on a crash pad. Falling face first, crushing the Hasselblad beneath me, would have been a very sad outcome. Thankfully the crash pad did its job and the only scars are psychological.
Thanks to the whole crew of climbers. See you soon. *note: I've never used a smugmug slideshow so below is my first attempt.
