out in the rain

The hours between 5 and 8 are usually spent eating dinner, watching the news, or just getting home. But, I've been so busy these days by 5 o'clock I just have to get outside. So, I called up Jessica Walker, a designer, and offered to show her how to use her "new" 1980's era Canon film camera.
So, we ventured outside, but soon it was pouring rain. Instead of getting soaked, we ducked into Whole Foods and sat and chatted about the technical aspects of photography and shooting in full-manual mode. We picked up a couple of rolls of B&W and waited for the rain to subside. I haven't shot Delta 400, but given that I really like Delta 100, I figured I'd give it a go. The extra speed would come in handy in the overcast day.
We headed up to prospect park and spent about 20 minutes playing around taking images of her latest bag (which looks awesome in color). When I got back, I developed the film. It has been too long since I've developed B&W. I'm going to get back into it; it's too easy and fun not to do more often.
David Simeone over at Hunt's isn't a fan of Delta because of its high contrast. Myself, I think it works for some things and not for others. It's a little too easy to burn the highlights, so you have to be careful. Because I use Kodak as opposed to Ilford developer, I think it exacerbates the problem. It definitely has a look though.
This image has just a touch of fill-flash and some post touches.
