the airshow

The Rhode Island tradition of the Quonset airshow was something I learned of in college while I was in Boston. It is the big Northeast air event and if you are into old planes, aerobatics, or powerful jets, this is the thing to get you going. I've gone twice before but it has been a few years since my last one.
Unlike last time, we were guests of Chelo's (look below) so we got primo position, good food, and unlimited beverage. A great treat on a hot day. Amie planned ahead and brought gobs of sunscreen and I would be blind now except for my sunglasses. Thankfully the tent also ha d a a stockpile of earplugs (a necessity because of the Harrier jump jet).
Even though it is high on the cheese factor (right up there with the rocket truck), I like the land air sea demo (joint arms demo?) that they put on. It is just a little bit of hollywood fun in your backyard. The funny thing about it was the first guy who jumped off the helicopter (fast too) was apparently a photographer. He jumped into position to get the special forces troops as they got in statuesque fighting positions.
I did have a digital slr with me, but I was using that to experiment with some oddballl concepts I had. None of them really panned out, but that's info stored in the thought bank now. The shots here are film. Dirty stinky film - so pretty.
