Nicole climbs.
I had the opportunity to shoot some photos today of Nicole W., who can do some cool moves on a wall, and her climbing partner May (her photos not posted yet), This was kind of a recon shoot, a spur of the moment thing, but it was fun. I got a handful of cool shots, but I can't post them all right now. I'm going to go in again on Thursday and I may bring a little more light and stick to bouldering shots. I'll probably bring out a ladder as well. More photos later.

the beginning for M&L
So, I've known Mike and Lianne for a little while now, from the humble beginnings of their pizza shop, to their great annual Saint Patrick's Day / Lianne's Birthday parties. The pizza is no longer, but they are going strong. They finally got engaged. I give them credit for not rushing it. So, they need people to save the date. That's where I came in, shooting some images this afternoon near the windy sea.

old school; film and raw movement.
Who doesn't like a european accent? These two guys from the Netherlands were enjoying the Rhode Island woods. I had been poking around looking for people climbing, wanting that great shot showing emotion and action. I was shooting film through that antique (but not antiquated) design of the Hasselblad. The light was reasonable allowing me at least f2.8 1/60th. But, nonetheless, the proof was in the pudding. Capturing that right moment with proper focus and composition proved to be harded than I was hoping. The primary difficulty was focus - the only focus aid is in the center of the frame, but if I center everything it would be boring. I missed some fingers and toes in the frame. Getting focused quick, and then adjusting the composition is something I will work on. But, still, I love the look. The time weathered look of film.
Thanks guys, drop me a line. Definitely let me know when you'll be down here again so I can try again.

Sunny Day bouldering, inside
Just fooling around shooting at the Rock Gym this afternoon. Four people were enjoying some bouldering and top roping. On a different note, apparently some of my previous photos for RIRG have been taken for use by a architecture firm without approval (they designed the Rock Gym). We'll figure something out, I'm not sweating it for now. Thanks to the climbers - I'm terrible with names. Feel free to drop me a line.
